Lady Gaga likes a croissant the morning before a big night of celebration and a yoga session the next day to “sweat the whisky out.” A study out of Sports Medicine found that exercise may boost the liver’s ability to recover and accelerate the breakdown of alcohol and byproducts so not a bad idea to have exercise when done in moderation the following day. Other celebrities, like Gwyneth Paltrow enjoys a hot bath with Epson salt followed by a cold shower the morning after to revive. The hot bath likely for relaxation and cold shower to wake up. A cold shower may also improve circulation with an adrenaline boost.
What do celebrities say about ginger for a hangover?
Prince Henry says, “favorite ginger likes to temper his hangover,” along with a strawberry milkshake. Ginger is a natural antioxidant and may help with the antioxidant stress caused by alcohol and also is a popular nausea remedy. Try natural ginger tea by boiling water with fresh ginger slices and add honey for flavor, or ginger ale but check the labels to be sure has real ginger extract.
What are the Celebrity’s hangover breakfast favorites?
Kate Hudson “drinks lots of tomato juice and eats fresh fruit and avocados,” and takes lots of vitamins. Kate Winslet enjoys a big glass of orange juice and a cup of tea. Fresh fruit and vegetables contain lots of natural water, antioxidants and electrolytes to combat the inflammatory and diuretic effects of alcohol (makes you pee and loose electrolytes like salt and water) and helps the body recover in the morning.
Avocados are especially helpful in both preventing and treating a hangover. They are high in monosaturated fats which takes longer to digest and can slow down the absorption of alcohol in the bloodstream and may help protect the liver not to mention rich in potassium.
Tea either ginger or green can be helpful and gentler on the stomach than coffee. Plus, green tea may also help with alcohol liver injury from drinking.
How about extra sleep for a Hangover?
Katy Perry drinks Sprite, meditates and “sleeps the whole day away.” Sleep is essential to combat the effects of alcohol and while alcohol can initially make you drowsy and fall asleep faster, it significantly disrupts sleep quality and contributes to a worse hangover in the morning. It is important to limit alcohol close to bedtime, aim for enough sleep, and either sleep the day away or consider a daytime nap to refresh.
